Information you need to ask about scuba courses
Where will I do the ocean dives?
The ocean diving of our course is conducted on our luxury 18 metre dive vessel NAUTILUS. Diving from our vessel ensures added enjoyment and increased skill level due to:
- A minimum of 6 boat dives (5 Scuba + 1 snorkel) over 2 day trips increases your diving skills far more than shore or river dives (trip value over $170 per day x 2 included in your course fees). From our vessel you will learn giant strides, ascents and descents, navigation, buoyancy and safety stops.
- Our dives sites include coral reefs and wrecks with visibility up to 30 metres. More interesting than dirty water in a river or shore diving (with only sand to look at).
- Marine life at our dive sites include whales and manta rays (in season), turtles, fish, coral reefs and wrecks i.e. Moreton Island Marine Park.
- Spending the day diving and snorkelling and then relaxing or sunbaking on our vessel is great fun. A sumptuous lunch of chicken, ham, cheese, salads and freshly baked rolls is also included.
- Our vessel has toilet and shower facilities and a large comfortable saloon (lounge). No need to bounce to your dive site on a small uncomfortable boat without toilets or cover from the elements.
Will I have ample time to practice my scuba skills in the pool?
Our pool sessions are normally 5-6 hours. This allows students the opportunity to practice the required scuba skills until they are confident, with our staff. Extra time is spent in the pool with you prior to any ocean diving. At Nautilus we also teach students self rescue skills, safety sausage deployment and rescue scenarios to make them more confident dives. This extra curriculum is a special bonus of the Nautilus class and not taught by many of the other training facilities. At Nautilus we feel its very important for our divers to learn the skills of Self Rescue and Rescue of your buddy on a dive.
Who will be my Instructor?
At Nautilus we have some of the most Senior Instructors in Brisbane, many with over 20 years of scuba training. Our staff mentoring program allows thorough training for all our Instructors and ensures you will have the best training available. We also participate in the International MAP Program (Monitoring Assessment Program of our staff) and exceed all training agency and Workplace Health & Safety Standards. Nautilus also exceeds staff to student ratios on our courses. Our vessel often has 10 staff to look after the divers.
So who uses Nautilus?
Multi Award winning Nautilus is the chosen provider for the University of QLD, Brisbane City Councils RAW (Real Adventure Women) Program and many of private school for scuba training. We have a 20 year unrivalled safety record and the best value for money course in Brisbane.
